Regents Wrestling

Welcome to the 2009-2010 Madison West Regents wrestling website. We look forward to bringing you another exciting season of wrestling. Our season runs from November through February and consists of a junior varsity and varsity team. We have a no-cut policy, so all athletes who remain in good standing will make one of the teams. All home matches are wrestled in the Stevens Gymnasium. The junior varsity and varsity teams wrestle their duals on the same nights in succession with the junior varsity starting at 6:30 and the varsity at 7:00. Both teams also compete several times throughout the season in their own tournaments. Come see the best team in the city! Regent Wrestling is on the mat.

Madison West Wrestling Mission

As wrestlers and coaches for the Madison West Regents, we will strive to get the most out of each day. We will conduct ourselves responsibly and carry ourselves with dignity and class. We will give our absolute best effort in practice in order to maximize our own potential and also make our team better. We will respect every opponent we face, yet fear no one. We will demonstrate good sportsmanship toward our opponents, their fans, their coaches, and the officials. As wrestlers, we will strive to be good students, as coaches we will strive to be good teachers, and as citizens we will be active in the community by giving back in thanks for all that we have.

About Head Coach Jeff Wingert

I am in my fourth year as the head coach at West after serving as the assistant for three years prior to that. Overall, this is my 12th year of coaching wrestling. I am a UW-Stevens Point graduate and wrestled for 2 years there. I am in my 18th year as a physical education teacher for MMSD and have been at Shorewood Elementary the last seven years. My wife (Liz) and I have been married for six years.
